DAVID BAKER

DAVID BAKER

David co-founded Baker & O’Brien in 1977. He has practised in Bundaberg since that time and has established himself as one of Bundaberg’s most experienced law practitioners.

David specialises in estate, property and commercial law. In particular, he has extensive experience in large scale conveyancing, such as macadamia farms and the like. He has extensive experience in the business and finance industry and has prepared detailed family trust structures and tax effective/stamp duty effective structures for many large, medium and small-sized businesses and private clients.

As the proprietor of the Turtle Sands Tourist Park and Holiday Retreat at the world famous Mon Repos Turtle Rookery, David has an acute knowledge of what it means to be in business today and he is ideally placed to offer commercial clients practical and sensible advice in their business dealings. 

David is a past-member of the Mater Hospital Board as well as being past-Chairman for the Bundaberg Racing Club.

DAVID O'BRIEN

David was admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland in July 1974 and together with David Baker founded "Baker & O'Brien" in 1977. David was a Council member of the Queensland Law Society from 2001 through to 2005.

David specialises in the areas of litigation, local and government town planning and is an accredited Mediator and is highly sought after in that capacity.

David has a wide-ranging and close relationship with the local business community. 


GLEN TOLL

GLEN TOLL

Glen was born in Bundaberg and attended Bundaberg State High School before undertaking a commerce degree and law degree at the University of Queensland, Brisbane. 

During completion of his studies he was appointed to the position of Senior Tutor at Kings College, University of Queensland, a position which he held for 3 years.

Glen undertook his Articles of Clerkship with Morris Fletcher & Cross in Brisbane from 1988 until 1990 at which stage he obtained admission as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland.  Glen then commenced practice at Baker & O'Brien in 1990 before joining the firm as a partner in 1991 creating "Baker O'Brien & Toll".

Glen's primary areas of practice are property and commercial law and has strong ties with the local business community.  Glen is frequently in contact with and provides advice and assistance to local building contractors, realtors, accounting firms and farming enterprises.

Glen has also provided assistance and advice to a number of local sporting associations and has served as a member of the Bundaberg Race Club Committee, Chairman and member of the Bundaberg Rugby League Judiciary Committee and various other local sporting involvements.

Glen has also served as a Director and Chairman of the Bundaberg Port Authority and continues his involvement with the Port and Government owned corporations via his position as Director on the Board of the Port of Brisbane Corporation.


CHRISTOPHER ROWE Acc.Spec. (Fam.) 

CHRISTOPHER ROWE

Accredited Specialis Chris was born in Bundaberg and attended Bundaberg State High School before undertaking studies in dual degrees of commerce and law at the University of Queensland, Brisbane.

Chris completed his articles of clerkship with Hopgood Ganim, Brisbane, where he worked mostly in the areas of litigation and family law.

Chris commenced employment with Baker O'Brien Toll in 1992 before joining the firm as a partner in July 1995.

Chris is an Accredited Specialist in Family Law and is recognised as such by the Queensland Law Society, becoming Bundaberg's first Accredited Specialist in 1998.

Chris enjoys the French culture and is currently finalising his PhD in French Literature through Armidale's University of New England.


KEN MARTIN

KEN MARTIN

Ken came to Baker O'Brien Toll in January, 2004, after having completed his law degree with James Cook University, Townsville, and finalising a Graduate Diploma in Professional Legal Education and Training with the University of Queensland, Brisbane, in December 2003.   Ken joined Baker O'Brien Toll as a partner in 2007.

Ken also has formal qualifications as both a motor and a heavy vehicle mechanic having obtained those qualifications whilst serving with the Royal Australian Air Force from 1980 through to July 2000.   During his service with the RAAF Ken received various awards, commendations, certificates and Diploma's in recognition of his service to the RAAF and his various qualifications.

Ken's primary areas of practice are quite diverse but his focus is generally on property transactions (business and personal), leasing and estates.   Ken also has a keen interest in legal issues arising with small to medium developments and planning and environmental law.  

Although only relatively new to Bundaberg Ken has already established quite a large client base including various not for profit organisations, small developers and numerous business owners within the Bundaberg and Discovery Coast regions.  

In December 2005 Ken was also appointed, by the Honourable Desley Boyle MP, Minister for Environment, as a member of the Wide Bay Coast Regional Consultative Group.   The Group was established by the minister to assist the community and the Environmental Protection Agency develop a Coastal Management Plan for the Wide Bay Coast.

Ken has various external interests including the Sunrise Rotary Club Bundaberg, the Bundaberg Golden Oldies Rugby Club and the Taylor Street Community Legal Service as a volunteer solicitor.
