The 1999 amendments to the Property Law Act brought de facto property settlement arrangements substantially into line with the Family Law Act (which governs property settlement for married couples).

However, there are a number of crucial differences between the two pieces of legislation.  The firm’s accredited family law specialist, Chris Rowe, knows the differences and has the practical experience to advise clients about how the Supreme or District Courts will apply the law in each case.

For parenting orders, the same principles apply as for married couples.  See the comments under the heading Children.
